Catherine Ashton, Family Mediator

Catherine is a Resolution trained family mediator. She qualified as a solicitor in 2004 having completed her LLB Hons Degree in 2000 and thereafter having undertaken the Legal Practice Course at The College of Law in York. She commenced a training contract in 2002, during which she started working in Family Law. She also gained experience in other areas of law during her training, including Conveyancing, Wills and Probate, Civil Litigation and Personal Injury. However, her main interest was in family law and she has specialised in family law since qualification.
As a member of a Resolution, Catherine is committed to ensuring that family disputes are resolved in a constructive and non-confrontational way. She draws on her experience as a family solicitor in her practice as a family mediator. She very much encourages mediation as a way to assist couples, whether they are married or unmarried, in resolving disputes through mutual agreement, rather than using the Court process. In this way, couples can reach solutions that work for them and that will stand the test of time.
As a solicitor, Catherine deals with divorce cases, financial matters, disputes between cohabitees, cases of domestic abuse and issues regarding children.
Catherine is a specialist accredited member of Resolution with particular specialisms in cohabitation, financial provision and domestic abuse. Catherine is also an advanced member of the Law Society family law accreditation scheme, specialising in financial matters and cohabitation disputes.
